Railways Launches All-in-One SwaRail App

Now passengers can avail of services like PNR status, complaint management, food orders, train status, ticket booking and more - all through a single app

Udaipur, February 5, 2025 - Indian Railways has launched the SwaRail app, which will allow passengers to avail of various railway services through a single account. Now passengers can avail of services like PNR status, complaint management, food orders, train status, ticket booking, and more - all through a single app.

However, this app is currently being launched on a trial basis and feedback is being collected from users. It will soon be available to the general public. Right now, the app is available for beta testers on both Android and iOS. However, according to the railways, the app will soon be available for download once the beta testing is completed. Users will be able to download it from the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. Currently, the Early Access Programme is full. Space may open up for new downloads later.

According to railway officials, passengers previously had to install different apps for services like reserved booking, parcel-related information, train status, food ordering and more. To address all these issues, Indian Railways, with the help of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), has developed a super app named SwaRail.

After downloading the SwaRail app on their mobile phones, users will need to log in. Once logged in, users can access the app using an M-PIN or biometric authentication. This app also allows users to use other Indian Railway apps, such as the IRCTC Rail Connect and UTS Mobile App.

SwaRail will feature the following services:

  • Reserved tickets
  • Unreserved tickets
  • Platform tickets
  • Parcel and Freight Inquiries
  • Train and PNR Status Inquiries
  • Food orders on trains
  • Rail Madad for complaint management

What does SwaRail App Allow

SwaRail simplifies the travel experience with a seamless single sign-on (SSO) system. Whether you’re planning a trip, booking tickets, or seeking additional services during your journey, SwaRail is your ultimate travel companion.

Key Features:

  • Plan and Book Tickets: Effortlessly plan journeys, search for trains, and book reserved or unreserved tickets through the app. This consolidation reduces the need for multiple platforms, streamlining the booking process.
  • My- Bookings: This functionality enables the users to check the details and history information of both booked and canceled tickets (unreserved and reserved) at the same platform. User interface presents the filtering  functionality as per user’s preference based on duration and transaction type.
  • You: This functionality enables users to view profile details and edit if needed. Also shows status of profile completion. Gives access for changing password, enabling/disabling biometric. Users can also verify email, edit their name (can be done only once) and delete account. These options are available under My Account Tab. User can also Add money to his R-wallet.
  • Real-time Train Tracking: Track your train in real-time with live updates on delays, expected arrival times, and other critical information, keeping you informed and helping you adjust your plans.
  • Coach Position Finder: Locate your coach’s position on the platform easily, making the boarding process smoother and more convenient.
  • Order Food on the Go: Place food orders from partner vendors while on board, ensuring fresh and timely meals during your journey.
  • Rail Madad: Use the Rail Madad feature to raise and track complaints or feedback directly with Indian Railways for quick resolution.
  • Refund Requests: Simplify the process of requesting refunds for canceled or missed journeys through the app.
  • Multilingual Support: Access the app in multiple languages, catering to India’s diverse population and enhancing accessibility.
  • R-Wallet Integration: Utilize R-Wallet, a digital wallet integrated into the app, for secure and convenient payments for various services.
  • The app is developed by CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems), an organization under the Ministry of Railways.
