Rajasthan, renowned for its cultural heritage and warm hospitality, is experiencing a remarkable surge in tourist arrivals, both domestic and international. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the state has emerged as a sought-after destination, with Udaipur's captivating ambiance contributing significantly to its popularity as a winter destination.

Notably, tourist footfall is on the rise even during the summer and monsoon seasons, reflecting the state's diverse appeal. In 2022, Rajasthan welcomed 11 crore tourists, a number that soared to 17 crore in 2023, compared to the pre-pandemic average of 7 crore annually.

Udaipur alone witnessed a record influx of 20 lakh tourists in 2023. The trend continues in 2024, with 3,71,794 tourists arriving in the initial two months, indicating sustained growth. January saw 2 lakh arrivals, including 1,89,500 domestic and 18,431 foreign tourists, while February recorded 1,63,000 tourists, with 1,42,300 domestic and 21,563 foreign visitors.

Industry insiders note a significant shift in Rajasthan's tourism landscape. While palaces, havelis, and sand dunes were once the primary attractions, the state has diversified its offerings to include wildlife, festivals, and adventure tourism. This evolution has broadened Rajasthan's appeal, with destinations like Mewar gaining traction among global travellers.
