The sanctuary is set to feature Rajasthan's second lion safari, while the biological park will showcase the state's first reptile house. Additionally, the foundation stone for a giraffe enclosure will be laid, and a new rescue center will also be inaugurated. Experts from Gujarat will be invited to release the lion pair into the safari. Soon after the inauguration, tourists will be able to visit these new attractions.

"The work on the Lion Safari and Reptile House is almost complete. We are working to organize the inauguration ceremony soon." - Sunil Kumar Singh, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Udaipur.

Reptile House at Biological Park

For the first time in Rajasthan, rare reptiles will be displayed at the Sajjangarh Biological Park. Special glass enclosures have been constructed for visitors to observe the reptiles closely. The reptile house is included in the regular ticket price for the biological park. Visitors can enjoy this new feature without paying an additional fee.

Lion Safari to Open Soon

The lion safari, a major highlight of Udaipur's wildlife tourism, has been completed at a cost of Rs 3.45 crore. Spread over 20 hectares in Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary, the safari will house a pair of Asiatic lions brought from Sakkarbaug Zoological Park, Gujarat. Ten cages have been built in the holding area to support future breeding programs. Tourists will ride in gypsies with capacities of 6 to 8 passengers, following a 5-kilometer pathway to observe the lions roaming freely. The entry fee for the safari is ₹160 per person. A viewpoint called Cloud-9 will provide breathtaking views of Udaipur, adding to the memorable experience.

Foundation Stone for Giraffe Enclosure

Sajjangarh Biological Park will also become the first in Rajasthan to house giraffes. The foundation stone for the giraffe enclosure, costing ₹2 crore, will be laid soon with financial support from the Urban Development Authority (UDA). A pair of giraffes will be brought from Mysuru under the Animal Exchange Program. Breeding programs will also help increase their population in the future. The construction of the enclosure is expected to be completed within six months.

Efforts are underway to finalize the inauguration ceremony, which will include:

  • Lion Safari: Rs 3.45 crore

  • Reptile House: Rs 1.91 crore

  • Giraffe Enclosure Foundation: Rs 2 crore
