Rs 1,507-Cr Kota-Bundi Airport Approved by Cabinet
Aug 20, 2025 - The Economic Affairs Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yesterday, August 19, approved the construction of the Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport. The Cabinet sanctioned the proposal to develop the Greenfield airport in the Kota-Bundi region of Rajasthan at a cost of Rs 1,507 crore. The airport will be developed by the Airports Authority of India.
The State Government has transferred 440.06 hectares of land to the Airports Authority. Currently, two major tenders are in process. The first tender, worth Rs 467.67 crore, was issued for airside works and its process has been completed.
The new airport will have a Terminal building spanning an area of 20,000 sqm capable of handling 1,000 Peak Hour Passengers (PHP) with annual capacity of 2 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA).
Other key features include:
- Runway 11/29 of dimensions 3200m x 45m
- Apron with 07 parking bays for A-321 type aircraft
- Two link taxiways
- ATC cum technical block
- Fire station
- Car park
The existing airport has a terminal building spanning an area of 400 sum and can handle upto 50 passengers during peak hours.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday congratulated the people of Rajasthan in a post on X saying, “Heartiest congratulations to my family members in Rajasthan for the new airport! Our government has approved the development of a greenfield airport in Kota-Bundi. This will make air travel easier for those coming and going from across the country, while also boosting tourism and employment.”
