Udaipur, January 27, 2025 - The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has asked the government for permission to raise bus fares. They have not changed the fares since 2016. RSRTC has tried before to increase fares, but the government didn't approve it.

RSRTC has been losing money in recent years and to reduce these losses, they introduced a system last month. The system can track buses in real-time, which helps improve fuel efficiency and monitor ticket sales.

The proposed fare hikes are for four types of buses, ranging from 30 paise to 65 paise. RSRTC says the cost of diesel has gone up a lot, and employee salaries have also increased. But the income from bus fares hasn't kept up with these rising costs. To fix this, they believe they need to raise the ticket prices.

In areas where private buses operate, the ticket prices are already much higher than government-run buses. RSRTC may not raise fares everywhere, only where it is necessary.
