December 6,2024 - Sonu Sood, known for his humanitarian work during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been appointed as Thailand’s brand ambassador and honorary tourism advisor. This announcement was made by Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
Promoting Thailand as a Travel Destination
In his new role, Sonu Sood will promote Thailand as a top travel destination, especially for Indian tourists. He will highlight the country’s culture, natural beauty, and hidden gems.
The announcement of Sood’s appointment comes after Thailand’s Tourism Ministry extended the visa-free entry policy for Indian travellers. Initially set to end on November 11, 2024, the policy has now been extended indefinitely. Indian citizens can stay in Thailand for 60 days without a visa, with an option to extend it by 30 more days.
Sood shared the news on social media, expressing his gratitude for the appointment. He mentioned feeling "honoured and humbled" by the gesture and is excited to take on this new role.
This policy change, combined with Sonu Sood’s involvement, is expected to boost tourism between India and Thailand. More Indian tourists are likely to visit the country, making this partnership a promising development for both nations.
