Special Metro Train Showcasing India’s Freedom Struggle Flagged Off

The train showcases the lives, thoughts and contributions of freedom fighters, revolutionaries and other prominent personalities associated with India’s independence movement

August 28, 2026 - Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday, August 27, flagged off a Metro train themed around India’s freedom struggle at Central Secretariat Metro Station in New Delhi. The train showcases the lives, thoughts and contributions of freedom fighters, revolutionaries and other prominent personalities associated with India’s independence movement.

Speaking on the occasion, Chouhan said the initiative would provide Metro commuters an opportunity to learn about the country’s freedom movement and the sacrifices made by its national heroes. He added that it would also help acquaint the younger generation with this important chapter of India’s history and inspire them with the courage and patriotism of those who fought for the nation.

During the event, the Minister was also presented with books published by Prabhat Prakashan, including Apnaapan. Books highlighting the journey and story of the Delhi Metro were also exhibited.
