June 9, 2025 - A new digital payment facility called ePayLater has been introduced by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to allow rail ticket booking without needing to pay at the time of booking. This is for those passengers who have no immediate funds but need to book tickets. Passengers even without access to debit/credit cards or net banking can go ahead with the booking and pay later within 14 days without any extra charge. No card details or wallet balance is required.

This is an IRCTC scheme launched in collaboration with Arthashastra Fintech Pvt Ltd. as part of the former’s initiative to promote Digital India. 

Passengers can book general and Tatkal train tickets through ePayLater. Apart from trains, ePayLater can be used to book flight tickets and both domestic and international IRCTC tour packages.

The ePayLater option is accessible via both the IRCTC website and mobile app (iOS & Android). The process is very simple - all you have to do is select your preferred train, flight, or tour on IRCTC, proceed to the payment page, choose ‘ePayLater and your booking is confirmed.
