National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd, has invited tenders for the 886km long Delhi-Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahmedabad high-speed corridor. The first set of tenders have been invited on Tuesday, 1 September for the decision makers to prepare their detailed project report. The detailed project report (DPR) will assess the feasibility of the route including land availability, alignment and the traffic potential.

The Delhi-Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahmedabad corridor is part of the proposed 8 high speed rail networks across India that the Indian Railways is planning. This is the longest corridor among the 8 proposed corridors, which include Delhi-Noida-Agra-Lucknow-Varanasi corridor, which is 865km long, Mumbai-Nashik-Nagpur, which is 753km, Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad, 711 km, Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore 435km and Delhi-Chandigarh-Ludhiana-Jalandhar-Amritsar which is 459km. Work on the Mumbai - Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor is already in progress, while the DPR preparation for the Delhi - Varanasi HSR corridor is already under process.

Preparation of the drawing of crossing bridges over rivers/canhals/railways and road (National Highway, State Highway, district roads and expressways) as well as general arrangement drawings or proposed stations and maintenance depots, ridership (traffic) study, data collection and associated survey work are the tender fulfilment parameters as far as scope of work is concerned.

While the Mumbai - Ahmedabad bullet train project will be completed by December 2023 with 90 percen of land acquisition being completed in the next six months, the 8 HSR corridors will transform the railway system in the next few years reducing the land commute time between major cities of India.
