75 Percent of Electrification Work on the Udaipur Ahmedabad Rail Line Completed, Says Minister

Electrification Work on Udaipur Ahmedabad Rail Track 75 percent complete says union minister ashwani vaishnav

Queries by the Udaipur MP:

  • Has the electrification work on the Udaipur - Himmatnagar - Ahmedabad rail line been completed?

  • If no, then what are the timelines, outlay and constraints?

​​​​​​Manna Lal Rawat, the Member of Parliament representing Udaipur in the Lok Sabha, raised questions related to the Udaipur Ahmedabad Rail Line at the Lok Sabha session on 31 July. The question was raised to Union Minister of Railways, Dr Ashwani Vaishnav.

Responding to his queries, the Union Minister informed that the electrification work across 75% of the rail track (227km) between Udaipur and Ahmedabad (297km) has been completed and the electrification work between Bichiwada and Himmatnagar (70km) has already commenced.  The Minister also added that between 2019 and 2024, a record 2,799km and 4,070km work of track electrification has been completed in Rajasthan and Gujarat respectively.

The Union Minister also informed that total of Rs 201.32 Crore has been allotted for the electrification work on the Udaipur - Ahmedabad line.

Vaishnav further informed that the commencement and completion of such a project(s) is influenced by a variety of factors. These factors, which include but are not exhaustive ar as follows:

  • Clearance from the Forest Department;
  • Right of way for upcoming transmission lines and their commissioning;
  • Shifting of encroached public utility land;
  • Statutory clearances from various authorities;
  • Geological topographical conditions of the area;
  • Law and order situation in the area of ​​the project site;
  • Climatic conditions;
  • umber of working months in a year for the particular project site, etc.
