World Class redevelopment work of Udaipur station in progress

The redevelopment work of the Udaipur Railway Station is being carried out on war footing by the contractors of the Indian Railways to equip Udaipur station with world class facilities. Ashok Chauhan, Chief Public Relations Inspector at the Ajmer Division of the NW Railways informed that the total cost of this project is Rs. 354 Crores.

He also informed that a total area of 86,248 sq meters will be developed at the Udaipur City Station of which the main station building will be developed across 5,989 sq meters (Ground Floor + 3) and the second entry station building will be developed across 5,824 sq meters (Ground Floor + 3). The Main Station Building will have provisions for car parking, separate gates for arrival/departure, security check area, 72 meter wide concourse area with food court, shopping court, cafeteria, waiting area, play area, etc. 20 new lifts and 26 new escalators will be installed at the station. Both the footover bridges at the station will be connected to the sky walk. All types of modern passenger facilities including waiting rooms, executive waiting rooms, retail stalls, toilets, baggage scanners and coach indicators will be made available at the station.

The grand and attractive building of the new Udaipur Railway Station will in itself define how well the station has been developed.  The entire project will have green building features with features to reduce energy consumption during construction as well as operation and maintenance, using renewable energy. It will be equipped with resources like waste processing, rain water harvesting, among other environmental friendly features.

Considering the importance of Udaipur as a tourist destination, many works are being done by the Railways to increase passenger facilities here. Keeping in mind the future circumstances, preparations have been made to work in a planned manner for better implementation of accessible rail facilities in Udaipur. Udaipur station is being redeveloped under 'Amrit Station' keeping in mind the needs over the next 40 years, which includes the heritage and modernity of Mewar. There is a provision to develop the station as a major center of the city, so that the tourists coming here also take away sweet memories with a special experience.

On 23 February, national and local media from New Delhi saw and covered the ongoing development works at Udaipur station. During this, Deputy Chief Engineer of Construction Department, Mayank Gupta, Executive Engineer Vikas Sehra and Regional Manager Mahendra Depal were also present.
