Udaipur, November 29,2024 - Rajasthan Roadways has decided to reopen ticket counters at the Udaipur depot after passengers faced several issues due to their closure. Ticket counters number 1, 3, and 6 have been restarted, while counters 2, 4, and 5 remain closed for now.
The Udaipur depot operates 82 buses daily, and with other depots, it runs about 300 buses. These buses serve around 14,000 passengers daily, generating over Rs 14 lakh in daily revenue from ticket sales. The buses travel to both small and large cities across the state, as well as destinations in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
Passenger Problems Due to Closed Counters
The closure of ticket counters caused many problems for passengers. They were unable to get seat numbers, leading to fights and confusion. Many buses started earlier than scheduled, causing complaints from passengers who had online tickets but missed their buses.
Lack of Confirmed Seats
The lack of confirmed seats was especially difficult for elderly people, women, and children. Passengers also struggled to find someone who could give them information about the buses. Only 5% of tickets were booked online, making it harder for people to get confirmed seats.
Management’s Response
To manage the workload, one counter is handling two counters responsibilities. The working hours for counter 6 have been set from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and for counters 3 and 6, from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The remaining counters are expected to reopen soon, which will help restore the system.
