The train route between Udaipur and Jaipur has undergone electrification. Intercity train arrived Udaipur on Monday with the electric engine. Prior to this Chetak Express has also been modified with electric engine and this is quite a welcoming situation.

The electric routes of trains will save both time and fuel for the nation, ultimately saving upon money. The electrification will save 2 hours on the Udaipur-Delhi route and 1 hour on the Udaipur-Jaipur route. As of now, the schedules of the trains have not been changed, but this is very likely to happen in the near future.

The electric engines will save a lot of money for the Indian Railways as the expense on electric track is much lesser as compared to the expense on diesel. Diesel creates pollution and the electrification of the train routes will reduce pollution to a good extent. Every single trip of the train from Udaipur to Jaipur or Delhi requires around 9 thousand litres of diesel which creates too much of smoke, hence adding to the pollution. The electric engines do not give out smoke and this will prove to be beneficial for the environment.

The electric train between Udaipur and Delhi now runs at a speed of 110 to 125 km/hr which was 80 to 100 km/hr with diesel engine. The journey between Udaipur and Ajmer used to take around 5 and half hours which will now be reduced by 1 hour. Similarly Udaipur to Jaipur route will be covered in 6 hours as compared to 7 ½ hours.
