The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has recently made significant changes to its bus services between Udaipur and Jodhpur. This comes in light of the termination of the contract for 9 Scania luxury buses, which were a popular choice for travellers on this route. As a result, the luxury buses are no longer operating, and standard 2x2 AC buses will now be servicing the route.

Current Bus Schedule

Previously, the Scania luxury buses offered three departures from Udaipur to Jodhpur at 6:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 4:00 PM. Similarly, from Jodhpur to Udaipur, the buses operated at 6:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 4:00 PM. Despite the change, one Scania luxury bus continues to operate on a different route, running from Jaisalmer to Udaipur and back at 6:30 AM, passing through Jodhpur.

Demand for Luxury Bus Services

There is a notable demand for luxury bus services between Udaipur and Jodhpur, primarily because there is no direct rail service connecting the two cities. The absence of a direct rail option has led to consistently full luxury buses on this route. Given the upcoming festive season, the need for luxury transportation is expected to rise, emphasizing the importance of restoring these services promptly.

Future Plans

Amitesh Yadav, the Chief General Manager of the Deluxe Depot, has assured that the Scania luxury buses will resume operation soon after undergoing necessary servicing, which includes a requirement of servicing for 15 lakh kilometers under the contract. In the meantime, the standard 2x2 AC buses will continue to operate, ensuring that passengers still have access to transportation between Udaipur and Jodhpur.

The RSRTC is working to ensure that the luxurious travel experience is restored as soon as possible, catering to the needs of travellers in the region.
