DRUCC Meet: Udaipur Raises Pitch for Daily Mumbai Train Service
Udaipur representatives raised key railway issues in Ajmer meeting, demanding new trains, improved passenger facilities and faster redevelopment work at Udaipur station
Udaipur, April 18, 2026 - A meeting of the Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) was held in Ajmer to discuss various issues with regard to regional rail services, operation of new trains and passenger amenities.
The Udaipur division was represented by three members who raised a number of proposals key among which was the need for a halt of the Humsafar train at Rana Pratap Nagar railway station. Officials assured that necessary action would be taken.
Key demands made by the Udaipur team include:
- Daily train service from Udaipur to Mumbai via Ahmedabad
- Introduction of a daily service to Haridwar
- Launch of a Vande Bharat sleeper train up to Delhi
- Increase frequency of Udaipur–Bandra, Udaipur–Rishikesh, Udaipur–Mysuru and Udaipur–Kamakhya.
- Extend Gujarat Mail Express up to Udaipur.
The Udaipur representatives called for installation of metal detectors at station entry gates. They questioned the lack of basic facilities such as drinking water and toilets on platforms 2 to 5 and clean waiting rooms. They pushed for restarting the closed free Wi-Fi service, introduction of electronic display systems, ramps and wheelchairs for differently-abled passengers and battery-operated carts for elderly passengers.
Discontent was expressed over the slow pace of redevelopment work at Udaipur railway station. Members said the construction work should be completed within the stipulated timeline and with quality, as passengers are currently facing significant inconvenience.

The group represent local user interests and holds periodic meetings with railway officials to discuss service improvements with regard to passenger amenities and train operations.
