Udaipur, May 20, 2025 – In line with Rajasthan government's Budget announcement and recognising the growing importance of travel marts in the tourism and arts sector, travel marts will now also be organised in Udaipur and Jodhpur. As part of this initiative, the Department of Tourism, Udaipur, held an important meeting on May 16 at the RTDC Hotel Kajri with stakeholders from the tourism industry, travel agents, hotel associations and representatives from Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI).

Joint Director of Tourism Sumita Saroch said the State Government aims to develop Rajasthan as a multi-dimensional, experience-based destination. The organisation of a travel mart in Udaipur is expected to give a new dimension to tourism across the division.

The Udaipur travel mart will host stakeholders from the tourism sector across the country, providing local tourism entrepreneurs a valuable platform to promote their products at the national level. New and lesser-known tourist destinations in and around Udaipur will benefit from increased exposure. Tourists visiting Udaipur will have more diverse options and the upcoming travel mart is also expected to increase night-stays, helping expand the local tourism business.

Through this travel mart, Udaipur - already a leader in wedding tourism - is also set to be developed into a hub for corporate events and international conferences in the coming years. Such events will significantly enhance the tourism potential not only of Udaipur city but the entire division.

The meeting was attended by key figures from the Tourism Department, including Shikha Saxena (Deputy Director), Divyani Vardia (Assistant Director) and Neelu Rathore (Tourism Officer). Prominent industry stakeholders such as Manish Galundia (senior vice-president, UCCI), Sudarshan Dev Singh (president, Hotel Association), UB Srivastava (president, UHU), Narpat Singh (president, Travel Association), GS Sisodia (UCCI) and Rakesh Choudhary (president, HSDR) participated in the discussion.

Srivastava proposed a three-day event format for the travel mart, with the first day dedicated to the inauguration and the next two days focusing on B2B meetings. Regarding the venue, Dev Singh presented three possible options, which stakeholders will visit and evaluate for final selection. Galundia informed that a detailed report on the proposed event will be submitted to the Tourism Department.

Stakeholders said organising a travel mart at the divisional level will benefit businesses of all sizes within the tourism sector and redefine the tourism landscape of Udaipur in the future.
