Udaipur, December 10,2024 - In November, Udaipur set a new record for tourism, hosting 2.37 lakh tourists. This is the highest number of visitors the city has ever welcomed in a single month. The visitors included 2.16 lakh domestic tourists and 21,992 foreign tourists. Compared to last year, the number of tourists increased by 1,693, and it was 65,502 more than the number of visitors in October 2024.

Tourism Growth Factors

The rise in tourist numbers is largely due to the Deepotsav celebrations and the wedding season. In the first week of November, thousands of tourists, especially from Gujarat, visited Udaipur during Dhanteras to Labh Panchami. The Deepotsav festivities, which lasted six days this year due to shifting calendar dates, also gave tourism an additional boost.

Udaipur’s Growing Popularity

Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, Shikha Saxena, noted that Udaipur's visibility in the tourism sector has significantly increased. The city hosted several high-profile celebrity weddings this year and appeared in international rankings, making it a trending destination. The hospitality industry standards have also improved, attracting more tourists who appreciate the city’s heritage and the rural lifestyle around Udaipur.

December Tourism Peak

Tourism in Udaipur is expected to peak in December. The Shilpgram Festival, which will take place from December 21 to 30, typically attracts around 1.5 lakh visitors each year. In addition, New Year celebrations on December 31 will bring in even more tourists, making it a vibrant time for the city.

Celebrity Weddings in Udaipur

Several celebrity and destination weddings are also planned for December. Currently, Udaipur is hosting pre-wedding functions for Jeet Adani, the son of industrialist Gautam Adani. The event is expected to attract several prominent figures from business and politics. In the third week of December, badminton star PV Sindhu will also get married in Udaipur. Other destination weddings will also take place throughout the month, adding to the city's appeal.
