Udaipur Tourism Spikes in 2025, Visitor Footfall Jumps 7%

Domestic visitors to the City of Lakes increase by 7.62% while foreign arrivals rise by 3.69%, says Tourism Department data

Udaipur, Jan 8, 2026 – Udaipur is a hot favourite among tourists and each year, the influx of visitors into the city is seen to be on the rise. In 2025, the City of Lakes recorded an overall increase of more than 7% in tourist arrivals when compared to 2024, according to the Tourism Department data.

With its scenic landscape, the rolling Aravallis and serene lakes as well as attractive shopping, Udaipur is fast becoming a favourite of domestic tourists, too, apart from foreigners. According to the Tourism Department, the number of domestic tourists visiting Udaipur in 2024 was 1,855,300, which increased by 7.62% to 1,996,700 in 2025. Meanwhile, foreign tourist arrivals rose from 155,350 in 2024 to 161,087 in 2025, marking a growth of 3.69%.

Domestic Tourists

If we analyse data from the last eight years (2018-2025), domestic tourist numbers have consistently increased, except for a decline during the COVID-19 years of 2020 and 2021. In 2018, the number of domestic tourists was 930,930, which dropped sharply to 355,000 in 2020 owing to the pandemic. The recovery began in 2021 and by 2022, the number rose to 1,469,970. Since then, the figure has steadily increased, reaching 1,996,700 in 2025.

Foreign Tourists

The highest number of foreign tourists visited Udaipur in 2018 with 207,016 international guests. Foreign visitor data is yet to reach the peak of 2018.

 In 2019, the number stood at 188,888. During the early months of 2020 (January-February), around 43,000 foreign tourists arrived, but owing to COVID-19 and lockdowns, the annual figure dropped to 44,643.

In 2022, only 5,025 foreign tourists visited Udaipur throughout the year. Post-pandemic recovery showed improvement as below:

  • Year 2022 – Visitors 54,395
  • Year 2023 - Visitors 136,399
  • Year 2024 - Visitors 155,350  
  • Year 2025 - Visitors 161,087
