The tourism season in Udaipur is set to begin on September 27, 2024 with World Tourism Day. However, the industry expects a significant increase only after the Navratri festival in October. Until then, local tourists will be the primary visitors.

Tourists from West Bengal start arriving from Navratri and have already begun making advance bookings. They typically travel in groups and book packages of 4 nights and 5 days or 6 nights and 7 days. These packages cover destinations like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, and Kumbhalgarh.

With direct flights from Kolkata to Jaipur, tourists usually arrive directly in Jaipur and then explore the state until Diwali. After Navratri, tourists from Delhi will start arriving as well. Gujarat’s Garba festivities during Navratri decrease the number of Gujarati tourists in Udaipur. However, after Dussehra, many Gujarati tourists visit Udaipur for sightseeing.

At present, most tourists are local, with the highest number of bookings coming from Sikar and Jaipur areas.  Rakesh Chaudhary, Secretary of the South Rajasthan Hotel Association, noted that bookings for this weekend are currently at only 60%. This is the only long weekend in September, and tourist numbers are expected to rise starting next month.
