The Forest Department has undertaken a new initiative to transform Ubeswarji, situated 20 kms away from the city, into a picturesque picnic spot. Tourists are promised a delightful experience with the sight of waterfalls during the monsoon season. The estimated cost for this project amounts to Rs 4.4 crore. Project work started on June 9, 2024, marked by the site's demarcation. However, concerns loom over potential delays as the monsoon, expected by the end of this month, could disrupt progress.

Picnic Huts and Waterfall

The development plan includes the construction of three picnic huts along the rainy streams, designed to cascade water akin to waterfalls. Additionally, two existing picnic huts will undergo renovation, complemented by the construction of stairways for accessibility. The completion deadline for this project is set for December.

Notably, the initiation of work faced delays due to the Model Code of Conduct during the Lok Sabha elections, hindering the issuance of work orders. Nevertheless, regional forest officers Surinder Singh and forester Dharmendra Saxena oversaw the project's commencement.

Infrastructure Enhancements

Addressing the lack of accessibility, the department is constructing a path approximately 100 meters long to make visitors passage to the picnic huts. This pathway, named Shiv Vatika, aims to provide a scenic walking route leading to the waterfalls.

Shiv Vatika and its Features

Furthermore, the department has developed Shiv Vatika, spanning over 15 hectares in Ubeswarji. This area have tree plantations, watchtowers, and benches for tourists comfort. Notably, Shiv Vatika offers a panoramic view of the renowned Sajjangarh Fort. Its inauguration is imminent.

Tourist Attractions

Ubeswarji witnesses a significant influx of tourists during the monsoon season, drawn not only by the natural beauty but also by the presence of the Shiv temple, which attract daily visitors.
