Udaipur, December 12,2024 - The Vande Bharat train service in Udaipur is facing challenges in passenger occupancy. Despite efforts to improve services, the trains are achieving limited success.

Low Occupancy on Udaipur-Agra Route

Initially launched to connect Udaipur and Jaipur, the Vande Bharat train was later extended to operate three days a week on the Udaipur-Kota-Agra route. However, after three months, the route has not generated significant revenue. Currently, the train is running with only 30 to 40% occupancy, showing limited interest from passengers.

Udaipur-Jaipur Service Also Faces Low Occupancy

The Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat train, operating for over a year, has also been witnessing low passenger numbers. It currently records only 40 to 50 percent occupancy, despite its convenience for travelers.

Experts Recommend Udaipur-Mathura Route

Experts suggest a new route for the Vande Bharat train. They propose connecting Udaipur to Mathura via Jaipur and Agra.

They believe the train should depart from Udaipur between 5:00 and 6:00 AM, allowing passengers to reach Jaipur within 5 to 6 hours. This schedule would give travelers a full day to complete their work in Jaipur.

This route could also attract passengers from other stations, including Bandikui, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, and Agra. Experts recommend conducting a trial run to test the feasibility of this route.

Call for Improvement

With these challenges in occupancy, the railways may explore alternative routes and timings to increase passenger interest and revenue. A trial run for the Udaipur-Mathura route could provide a better solution for passengers and the railways.
