Udaipur-Asarwa Vande Bharat Commences Halt at Shamlaji Road

Indian Railways begins trial halt of Udaipur–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express at Shamlaji Road station, boosting connectivity, tourism and passenger convenience

Udaipur, March 23, 2026 - To enhance passenger convenience and improve regional connectivity, Indian Railways has officially started a trial halt of the Udaipur City–Asarva (Ahmedabad) Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 26963/64) at Shamlaji Road railway station from Sunday (March 22).

A special ceremony was held at Shamlaji Road station where the train was flagged off by Chief Guest Poonamchand Baranda, Gujarat Minister of State of Tribal Development, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, along with Shobhanaben Mahendrasinh Baraiya, Member of Parliament, Sabarkantha.

Senior railway officials including Mihir Dev (Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Ajmer Division), Mahendra Depal (Regional Officer, Udaipur), along with other officials and local dignitaries were present on the occasion.

This new halt will significantly improve convenience for passengers. The Vande Bharat Express running between Udaipur and Asarva (Ahmedabad) will now also stop at Shamlaji Road, in addition to Zawar, Dungarpur and Himmatnagar.

Shamlaji is a well-known pilgrimage destination, and this halt is expected to boost tourism while providing world-class travel facilities to local passengers, traders and devotees.

Schedule Details (Trial Basis)

  • Train No. 26963 (Udaipur City–Asarva)
    Arrival: 08:28 am | Departure: 08:30 am 
  • Train No. 26964 (Asarva–Udaipur City)
    Arrival: 07:18 pm | Departure: 07:20 pm 

This halt will remain on a trial basis until further orders.
