Udaipur, January 22, 2025 - The Railway Ministry has invited bids for a signaling system to enable Vande Bharat trains, designed for speeds up to 280 km/h, to run on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed corridor.

This decision comes as delays persist in finalizing the deal for Japan's Shinkansen bullet trains. Earlier, the ministry planned to introduce Shinkansen trains on the Surat-Bilimora section by August 2026. However, these specialized trains may not arrive before 2030, and full operations across the corridor might only begin by 2033.

The project, initiated in September 2017, faces significant delays, shifting focus to indigenous Vande Bharat trains for faster implementation.
