Vande Bharat Sleeper Train

On September 1, 2024, India unveiled its first Vande Bharat Sleeper train. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna presented the new train at BEML’s facility in Bengaluru.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper will have ticket prices comparable to Rajdhani trains, aimed at middle-class families. The fares will be reasonable, with the train suitable for overnight journeys of 800-1,200 km.

Operation to Start After Trial

The train is expected to start operations within three months after completing trials. It will include separate berths for train attendants and advanced virus control mechanisms. Passengers will experience reduced jerks, noise, and vibrations.

Modern Facilities

The train boasts amenities similar to aircraft. Each sleeper berth features reading lights, charging sockets, a mobile holder, and a snack table. First AC passengers will have access to a hot water shower. Additionally, a dog box in the Driving Trailer Coach will accommodate pets of passengers and the Railway Protection Force.

The pantry car is equipped with ovens, bottle coolers, dessert compartments, and compact dustbins. LED lights below the ladders will help passengers find their way to the washroom at night.
