The Minister said that the development, upgradation and modernisation of railway stations by Indian Railways is a continuous process, carried out as per requirements and undertaken based on priority and budget availability.

He explained that while approving these projects, priority is given to major stations over smaller ones. Currently, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, railway stations are being upgraded, redeveloped and modernised. This scheme envisions the redevelopment of stations while considering future needs and requirements.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Vaishnaw said, involves preparing a master plan for station redevelopment and implementing it in phases to enhance the facilities available. A total of 1,337 stations across Indian Railways have been identified for redevelopment/upgradation, out of which work is in progress at 1,202 Amrit Stations.

The Minister informed that in Rajasthan, redevelopment work is being carried out at 85 stations under the scheme, with focus on large-scale redevelopment of key stations, ensuring that station buildings reflect local art and culture. Additionally, separate arrangements are being made for arrivals and departures to facilitate smooth passenger movement. Roof plazas and air concourses are being constructed for passenger convenience.

To further enhance passenger amenities, facilities such as lifts, escalators, executive lounges, waiting rooms, shopping complexes, cafeterias, and adequate parking spaces will be provided. Environmental conservation measures, including solar energy utilisation, water conservation, and rainwater harvesting, will also be incorporated. Each station will be developed as a city centre, making it an attraction not only for passengers but also for city residents.

In Jaipur, at Gandhinagar Jaipur Station, the structural work of station buildings at both the entrances is complete, while finishing work is in progress. The air concourse girders have been launched, and the deck slab has also been laid. Redevelopment work, including through-roof installation and platform shelters, is being carried out. At Jaipur Junction, the structural work of the station building and basement at the second entrance has been completed, while work on the foot overbridge, main entrance station building and air concourse is in progress.

At Bharatpur Station, platform surfacing, waiting hall, platform shelters and toilet improvements have been completed. The construction of the new Passenger Reservation System (PRS) building is done and work on a new foot overbridge, entry porch and circulating area development is ongoing.

In Jaisalmer, redevelopment work at the station is progressing rapidly. The structural work of the station building at the main entrance has been completed and finishing work is underway. Additionally, air concourse and foot overbridge girder launching and deck slab casting have been completed, the Minister shared.
