3-day Theatre Festival “Alfaaz 2016” starts from today

Alfaaz – 2016, a 3 day theatre festival will start from today evening at Shilpgram auditorium. The theatre festival is dedicated to women and the organisers claim it to be the first such theatre festival dedicated to women in the state.

Chief Organiser Abdul Mubeen Khan informed that this is the fourth edition of the theatre festival and has seen positive response over the last 3 years. The theatre festival will be free for all with no entry fees.

3-day Theatre Festival “Alfaaz 2016” starts from today

The first day of the festival will see rendition of “Lashkar Check” – a play based on India’s independence period. The play is written by Kusum Kumar and directed by Amit Shrimali. The play depicts the relationship between Hindus and Muslims at that time and the turmoils that women had to go through.

Second day will see a play from Bengal theatre group “Shine”. The play is called “Tomaar Daake”. The play is based on the thought process of Malala Yusufjai and talks about the changing life of a lady. Play has been written and directed by Suvojit Bandopadhyaya.

Third and final day will host the play “Agni Pariksha”. This play talks about  symbolisms of sacrifice by women including Sati, Fire test of Seeta and Jauhar performed by Padmini.

Prizes for short plays, painting competitions, online photography etc will also be given out on these days.
