Gaurvi Singhvi of Udaipur has become the first Indian to swim 48km from Khar Danda, which lies on the western Mumbai coast, to Gateway Of India, which is the southern end of Mumbai.

Another feather added in her cap today afternoon just a few hours ago, as Gaurvi created a national record of swimming a whooping 48km across Juhu Beach to Gateway of India in the high seas off the Mumbai coast. And all this in just 9 hours and 23 minutes.

Gaurvi Singhvi has given a clue too many while she is still Fourteen!

14 year old Gaurvi, studying in Delhi Public School, Udaipur, has been a state champion over the last few years before she set her sights on high seas swimming – a daring proposal for the young lady.

The swim for Gaurvi began today morning at 3:30AM but her preparations for this feat began months ago, when she had achieved another record landmark of giving her best in the 36km high seas swim in just over 6 hours.

In the presence of her coach and experts in the wee hours of the morning, Gaurvi took the plunge near Khar Danda at 3:30AM today.

Each minute of her journey was closely monitored by the escort boat floating at a safe distance from the little mermaid, as she gradually but with exemplary consistency made her way across the high seas, towards her target. Having trained in the light but cold waters of Fatehsagar over the last so many weeks, Gaurvi’s perseverance paid off once again today. For those of you who are regular morning walkers or joggers at Fatehsagar, the sight of Gaurvi training in the presence of her mother Shubh and coach Mahesh Paliwal, was a daily event.
