Bohra community Welcomes New Year 1434 Hijri

It seems like the secular aspect of India is even revered by the controller of this universe, as tonight on one hand the country is illuminated with lights and crackers celebrating the Deepawali, on the other hand, the Dawoodi Bohra community welcomed their new year 1434.

It seems like the secular aspect of India is even revered by the controller of this universe, as tonight on one hand the country is illuminated with lights and crackers celebrating the Deepawali, on the other hand, the Dawoodi Bohra community welcomed their new year 1434.

Bohra New Year 1434 marked its beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 14. People of the community offered New Year greetings to each other and enjoyed the New Year feast in decorated ‘thaal’ with the whole family together.

On Nov. 14, on the Urs of Syedi Khanji Peer Saheb, religious sermon and community en masse feast will be organized.

Nov. 14 also marked the beginning of the first Islamic month of Moharram. Bohra community commemorates Imam Hussain (grandson of Prophet Muhammad) in the first 10 days of Moharram.

Anis Miyaji, the spokesperson of Bohra Community informed that for 10 days beginning from today, community en masse dinner will be organized and various programs will commemorate the sacrifice made by Imam Hussain. People of the community will wear black colored clothes during the 10 days of Moharram.

On the fifth of Moharram, which happens to be on Nov. 18, a blood donation camp has been organized.
