Devotees rush to Sagasji Bawji Temple; Celebrate 485th Birthday of Local Deity
The 485th Birth Anniversary of Sagas ji Bawji Maharaj, a deity of Mewar, was celebrated with absolute devotion. Hundreds of devotees lined up outside Sagasji’s temple at Sarv Ritu Vilas since early morning.

The idol of Sagasji Bawji Maharaj was ornamented with special ‘Shringar’ (decoration) with pure gold, gold dust, sandalwood and saffron by two of the devotees Daulat Kumawat and Tarun Mangal.
“Sagasji Maharaj is a symbol of heroism and bravery. He never lost a war in his life” says Tarun Mangal, a keen devotee of Sagas ji Maharaj.
Standing in a long queue of the 75-year old temple, the followers have kept pouring in throughout the day. Dharm Narayan Dashora, temple priest said, “For next three days, the gates of temple will remain open for all 24 hours.”
Informing about the schedule, the priest said that “after Bhajan Sandhya in the evening, Maha Aarti will performed after midnight. The next day, Maha Aarti will start at 5 in the evening and will be followed by darshan which continue for three days.
Almost 40,000 people have already offered prayers at Sagas ji temple, said Dashora.
According to the legend, Sagas Ji Bawji was son of Maharaj Rai Singh. Sagas ji was engaged with Maharani Kunwariprada of Bikaner. When Sagasji lost his life, Maharani Kunwariprada placed herself on the pyre and become a Sati.
