It is Earth Hour Day today. WWF India has appealed to the citizens to shut off lights tonight for an hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (IST).

With the purpose of creating awareness for environment conservation and saving electricity, Earth Hour Day is celebrated every year where intent and committed people come together with a hope to change the world believing that certain small things create a bigger impact. This has been co-ordinated by WWF and other voluntary organisations.

The lights-off event started in Sydney-Australia in 2007. Earth Hour is the world’s largest movement based on the need for climate. 2018 marks the 11^th year of Earth Hour celebration day. This worldwide action normally takes place on last Saturday of March.
