More about this festival

Eid ul-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of Islamic month of Dhu-al Hijjah. The occasion is closely attached to the completion of annual Hajj Pilgrimage.

Being one of the most important occasions of Islam, Eid ul-Adha is also known as Festival of Sacrificing one’s self to the will of God Almighty. It is linked with the story of Prophet Ibrahim, his son Ishmaeel and Prophet Ibrahim’s wife Hagar.

The story depicts the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim on God’s command and how he prepared himself to sacrifice his beloved son Ishmaeel.

The event of Ibrahim and his son is mentioned in the holy book of Quran and the procedures are recorded in several Ahadees (Books containing Prophet Muhammad’s sayings and actions).
