In celebration of Environment Week
on 2nd June 2010 a Cycle rally was conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests starting from Chetak Circle
to Saheliyon Ki Baari
at 6 a.m. and was followed by a mini drama Runkhdo Maro Bhaylo
performed in Street Theater style by Mr. Vilas Janve and his group.
Rally was lead by Dr. N.C. Jain
Chief Forest Conservator Udaipur and Mrs. Rajni Dangi
Chairperson, Municipal Corporation of Udaipur kept her promise by joining the rally. All riders were carrying environment conservatory slogans written on Cardboard. The main objective of this rally is to educate people on using Eco-friendly methods to complete their day to day chores.
Soon after the rally, started the drama Runkhdo Maro Bhaylo. It tells that many a times plantations and afforestation activity is carried out by NGOs, Government Institutions and other departments. Neither the organizers nor Chief Guests (most of the time Political Leaders) presiding the program are least interested in plants and nature, they participate just for publicity and to come on Prime time Television.
The plants which are center of attraction on the very first day are later neglected, ignored and tempered by human activities, no one takes care of it after-wards
and hence we all have to bear adverse consequences of Environmental degradation like Global warming, irregular monsoon, untimely seasons and depletion of Ozone layer. The performers told the present audience that in this garden there are no lights, fans, air conditioners and coolers still no one is feeling uneasy. Similarly everyone can live in harmony with nature without requiring all such modern facilities which are harmful for man and his surroundings. On this occasion Mr. Manish Jain
founder of Shikshanter, a nature conservation initiative. Asked the people to first hug and greet each other
and later asked them to hug trees and feel their positivism and nature around.
He shared the fact that at the time of planting trees people generally prefer Neem and other selected fruit laden trees. This mistake will result in extinction of many species which survive on different varieties of trees. In her address to the gathering Mrs. Dangi appreciated the overall efforts of Dr N.C. Jain and Mr Janve, she told that by using cycles we will save our nature and will also be saving the much needed foreign currency which is otherwise spent on buying fuels like petroleum and diesel from other countries.
While appreciating drama artists Dr. Jain announced that from 7 June onwards a two hour drama workshop is being organized in M.G. College, Sardarpura. Timings for this workshop will be from 7 to 9 a.m. On 3 June 2010 cycle rally will be running from Chetak Circle to FatehSagar Lake at 6 a.m. in morning and another mini drama Cycle ro Pahio will be performed at 6;30 a.m. onwards at the same place.
