In some cases when we are too fed up of traditional Indian Roti-Sabzi, we look for some alternative cuisines. This search leads to not many great choices pop up, because generally fast food is considered to form other cuisines, which is a wrong notion, and we have innumerable number of fast food cafes in our city.

Temptation can’t be called a change from the usual, because it does feature Indian food in a significant quantity; but it also boasts a specialty in Chinese and Italian and also has coffees and mock tails for the needy.

To be reached, one has to travel down the 100ft road, which incidentally has one end at Fatehpura and the other on University Road.

Beware! They don’t have the facility of Card Payment yet and the nearest ATM is at least 2 km down towards University Road.

The restaurant is a building of one floor. The ground floor serving as the main dining hall and the first floor usually promoted as the party hall. Praveen Anchalia, the manager indicates that he might use the adjacent garden for bigger parties of extra tables after the Monsoons end.

The rates for the party hall start from Rs. 180 per person, with at least 20 people required for the hall to be opened up. The party is allowed to last up to 2 and a half hour.

The surroundings are silent; hence one can automatically feel isolated from the chaos of the city while seated in. In a while, after absorbing all that was around us, we started ordering.

Lemon Coriander Soup

Lemon grass and coriander make up the soup generally. The Chef here has to be appreciated. Lemon grass ruled the soup as coriander stem and leaves added their distinctive taste to make it appetizing. I loved the clear gravy and the tantalizing effect it left as an after-taste.

I would recommend this to the visitors.

After the soup we were looking forward to the rest of the items we’d ordered and then arrived the-

Veg Manchurian (gravy)

We had stared at the plate in horror considering calling shenanigans at the chef for a full minute before realizing that actually Manchurians are served in this same quantity everywhere but in a pot with depth.

Believe me readers; they look less only because they are served on a flat plate. And also believe me, they were worth the price they cost us.

Cooking Manchurians is something I consider as a delicate work as most of the times they remain lumped and hard. Here, they were very soft and warm. The gravy was invigorating and didn’t survive long before us. Best Manchurian I’ve had in a multi-cuisine restaurant in a long time!

I would recommend this dish as well.

Penne Pasta

These were boiled pasta in red sauce. The pasta were not properly boiled, weren’t as soft as one would want them to be. The sauce was good. The green and yellow capsicum supported the taste well. It wasn’t incredibly excellent like we had expected by now, but not undercooked either.

Mocha Frappe

I had ordered this as a side drink. It was a coffee blended with chocolate and ice cream. The drink was cool, and satisfying. Though, I think the coffee could have been thicker to make it better. All in all, a good drink for light conversation but not the best one out there.

Veg Pizza

They allow you to order four toppings with the pizza. We chose onions, tomatoes, baby corn and chillies + capsicum.

The pizza was simple. It was smeared with cheese over the easily distinguishable toppings. I really wanted it to be with the level of service we were getting by now, but it failed. They provided ketchup with the pizza which was a big help but pizzas can only be called delicious if they don’t need ketchup to enhance their taste.

The base was crusty and very outdated in pizza fashion nowadays.

If you are a pizza lover and like savoring every crumb of it, this isn’t for you.

Lastly, after noticing several mock tails flavoring bottle cleverly showcased, I ordered a mock tail for myself to wash down the meal.

Watermelon Mock tail

This was instantly the most awesome mock tail I’ve had in a long time. The flavor was a beautiful replacement of real watermelons and the ice crush added to its mouth watering look. I sucked enjoyment through the straw and was genuinely unhappy when the fun stopped.

Consider this drink as highly recommended if you crave for watermelons in Monsoons!

The bill we were charged was Rs 660 and considering the two drinks, one soup and three dishes, it was reasonable. The Manchurian would seem expensive at Rs 100, but they were worth it.

We left with a heavy heart not only because we leaving a commendable place but also because we didn’t have a vehicle and we had the long walk back to University Road staring at our faces. The walk of Temptation.

Did I mention? The probability of spotting Rickshaws on a 100 ft road is next to none.
