While the Surajpole Police shows its tough side by catching hold of humans who act like animals, it also has a softer side for real animals.
While the Surajpole Police shows its tough side by catching hold of humans who act like animals, it also has a softer side for real animals. Surajpole Police Station team has gone on to become a go-to place for gang of monkeys to quench their thirst.
Surajpole Police Station team has placed a large metal vessel filled with water in its compound for the monkeys. A gang of monkeys regularly comes to the Police Station compound between 2pm-4pm. The monkeys descend in groups of 2 from the roof in an orderly manner, drink water and go back silently.
Interestingly, constable Sumer Singh says that initially they had earthen pots. When the monkeys found the pot to be empty, one of them would come and throw the pot in front of the Policemen and go away suggesting that there was no water for their group. After understanding the monkey’s needs, the team put a metal vessel filled with water for the monkeys.
The vessel is kept in garden area of the Police Station. Though the monkeys come daily, they have never damaged the garden or any other thing in the compound – they come, have their drink and walk off peacefully.
