Voting day, 7th December 2018 was an interesting day. Interesting in the sense that people were too enthusiastic about this day. Public was more excited about the ambience of polling booths. Newspaper rolled out enough excitement for the youngsters by creating selfie points. In fact, selfie at polling booth also became a part of selfie competitions for many groups.

The booths were beautifully decorated with colourful balloons. At some places, the representatives also offered very polite assistance to the old and the aged. The most eye-catching part was that the extremely old and feeble were once again like every year more enthu about voting. Age and physical conditions did not deter their voting spirit. Ladies from the rural area were also seen with hidden but happy faces behind the ghoonghat, though they had to lift their ghoonghat a bit to reveal their identity. Rural ladies thronged onto polling booths in groups; well that is woman-power. Some cities have also reported that newly married couples were too keen to cast their vote together. Some people were brought on wheel chairs as they were undergoing treatment in hospital. The voting spirit in people was amazing, though the sad part is that many people did not find their names in the list and had to return feeling disappointed and disgusted. But this year for the first time ever, it was a colourful voting day. Never ever did we such well decorated attractive booths in the past. Though words were overheard pointing towards the actual working of government, people said that decorations are of no use if the government doesn’t function well. Only if the working of government is as beautiful as this… will it be …?
