Marking the 23rd night of the holy month of Ramadan, Dawoodi Bohras will perform night long prayers tonight as it is one of the most auspicious and holy nights of Ramadan, also known as Lailatul Qadr.
Dressed in traditional attire, both men, women and children assemble at the masjid for prayers. According to the religious faith Bohras adhere to, the night of Lailat-ul-Qadr is often ascribed to Fatima-tuz-Zahra, daughter of Prophet Muhammad.
Bohra men and women meet each other, family members and friends and request each other for prayers for each other. Kids will be seen moving around the masjid area, enjoying the night long activity while the elders are busy with prayer and seeking help from the Almighty.
After the night long prayers, the Sehri (Suhur) is performed in the Masjid before offering the early morning (Fajr) prayers. Most go home only after completing the early morning prayers at the masjid.
