As part of Navaratri, Saraswati Pooja was performed at Sree Ayyappa Temple, Meera Marg.

According to B. Ponnappan, general secretary Sree Ayyappa Seva Samiti, from October 24, 2012 Ashtami, Navami and Dasami are three important days for Saraswati pooja and these days are linked with Vidya (knowledge). Goddess Saraswati is also known as Goddess of wisdom and learning.

On the evening of Oct 22, school going children submitted their academic books for pooja and they (books) remained with Goddess Saraswati for the next two days. During these two days, pooja was performed twice, in the morning and evening.

Today in the morning of Vijayadasami at 9.00 am, young children entered the world of letters and started off with writing ‘Hari’, ‘Sree’, ‘Ganapathaye Namah’. This was administered by temple Poojari Harilal Narayan in the temple premises.

On the occasion, people, irrespective of their age, also wrote on the ground, letters of `Hari’, ‘Sree’, in temple premises to renew their reverence to the Goddess Saraswati who is considered as the supreme Goddess devoted to `Vidya’
