An organization for Hairdressers, ‘Sain Kshor Kalakaar Mandal’ appealed to the President of India to include Hairdressing as one of the categories in the National Awards. The letter expresses various points on how hairdressing has now raised from just a profession to a form of art.

As drafted in the letter, haircutting now has become a necessity of each and every individual and hairdressing has gained a respectful position in the society, acclaiming an artistic form.

Ashok Paliwal pointed out, “Vidal Sassoon, Hairdresser, UK was awarded the best CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) and a documentary was also been made on him. This indicates that now hairdressing is just another art form and can receive awards as received by personals from field of cultural, literature, fashion etc.”

They also sent the copy of the appeal to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and Human Resource and Development Ministry of India.
