Udaipur is not only a favoured tourist destination but has also been a favourite destination with Prime Ministers of India. PM Narendra Modi will be the 9th Prime Minister of India to visit Udaipur when he comes down on 29-Aug.
Udaipur is not only a favoured tourist destination but has also been a favourite destination with Prime Ministers of India. PM Narendra Modi will be the 9th Prime Minister of India to visit Udaipur when he comes down on 29-Aug.
This will also be Narendra Modi’s third visit to Udaipur. He had visited Udaipur twice before becoming Prime Minister. He had once addressed a public gathering during Assembly elections at Gandhi Ground and the other time he had come for unveiling the statue of Sundarsingh Bhandari outside Govardhan Sagar Lake.
The eight Prime Ministers to have visited Udaipur before this proposed visit of Narendra Modi. The PMs who have visited include Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, VP Singh, PV Narsimha Rao, IK Gujral, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh. Manmohan Singh was the last PM to visit. He visited Udaipur on 21 July 2006. Manmohan Singh had also held an India-UK Summit talk with Tony Blair in Udaipur on 8 Sept 2005.
