Students of College of Fisheries (MPUAT) conducted an eco-friendly Ganesha Visarjan today at Fateh Sagar Lake by immersing Ganesha Idol in a fiberglass tank filled with water at Fateh Sagar paal.
This unusual but praiseworthy task was done to spread awareness among the citizens to observe religious rituals in an environment friendly way.
Students installed a big water tank to do ‘visarjan’ and later took back the idol to the college. Besides students, the professors of the college also supported the cause and appealed all lake conservators and made citizens of Udaipur aware to opt eco friendly way to do the Visarjan.
Professor Vimal Sharma, Dean of College of Fisheries welcomed and appreciated this initiative of the students.
Usually the idols are made by using several colors which gets mix up with the lake water and eventually pollutes it. Lakes are the major source of drinking water. We can evade polluting our lakes by doing customary visarjan in plastic pool, fiberglass or cement tanks. This will certainly keep our lakes clean from unwanted pollution.
Dr B K Sharma, officer for National Service Scheme Program, has said that students of the college conducted daily prayers in the evening while maintaining their study schedule. Ganpati Visarjan was done with all devotion and faith.
