Gujrati Mochi Samaj today observed the 30-40 year old tradition of breaking earthen pots in front of the shops to please the Indra Dev (Hindu Lord of Rains).
Women of Bhoi and Gujarati Mochi community gathered at Sanwariya temple at Mochiwada and after offering prayers they filled their pots with cow dung and then they proceeded towards the market.
All the shopkeepers closed their shops and shops which were open were targeted with breaking up of the pots at the threshold of the shops.
Women then moved towards Gangaur Ghat and filled their earthen pots with fresh water and then they broke them in front of the shops again while returning to the temple.
Some people and shopkeepers of that area complained that his ritual should be stopped as it creates annoyance and affect their business as their shops remains closed for 3-4 hours.
