Excise department has a lot to make you go ROFL.

Staying in rhythm with Bihar where rats consumed liquor in the police stations, a junior officer in Udaipur’s excise department has added another episode to “laughter is the best medicine”.

Rats reportedly consumed more than one lakh litres of liquor in the police station in Bihar. Going ahead with the same explanation, a junior officer of the excise department in Udaipur gave the same explanation in court.

On the courts summons regarding liquor seized almost 8 years back by excise department, the godown in charge reached the court with empty bottles of liquor. The logic given by him was that the liquor went missing due to unavoidable natural calamities. He said that liquor was either consumed by rats or went stale due to moisture and dampness in the rainy season, hence it may have been destroyed.

On the grounds of the officer’s logic, the next hearing of the case has been shifted to 15^th May. Excise preventive team officer Chandrabhan Singh had raided Piyush Suhalka’s house in Roshan ji ki badi on 16^th June 2009. 36 beer cases, 35 quarters of Officer’s Choice, 36 quarters of Ghoomar and 12 quarters of Rose liquor were seized from his house.

Ganpat Choudhary,Lawyer of the accused, had appealed to the court to order the officer in charge to present all the seized liquor in front of the court. As per the court’s orders, Purab Singh, the officer in charge reached the court with empty bottles. The bottles did not have a drop of liquor in them, there was no seal and even the case number was not mentioned on the empty bottles.

Wonder which rats consumed liquor and did not even burp…the question still stands unanswered and we need to wait for further details until the next hearing on 15^th May. Stay tuned…you may have a lot to burp later on.
