5th June is World Environment Day. The first World Environment Day was held in 1974. Raising awareness about environmental issues, WED has become a global platform. It was designated by UN General Assembly.
On this day, steps are taken to encourage masses to save environment and to motivate one and all to join hands in doing so. The areas covered in the WED are not only fauna and flora and wild life but also saving food, cleaning places near and around and creating awareness about each and everything that helps and is necessary for survival.
Jaipur is organising “Run for Environment” rally which will begin from Sawai Man Singh Stadium at 6 a.m. on the 5th of June. The route for the rally would be SMS stadium, Rambagh Circle, Narayan Singh Circle, Trimurti Circle, JLN Marg, Gandhi Circle, Gandhi Nagar turn, Tonk Road and will end in SMS stadium again. Ministers Ashok Gehlot, Bina Kak, Ram Lal Jat will be participating in the rally. Local administration, Army officers, Police officers, NCC cadets, various Universities, Scouts and Guides, and NGOs will also be participating in the environment day rally.
