World Tourism Day 2010 was organised on September 27th, 2010 in Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), campus, MLSU, by Master of Tourism Management in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan and TRC, Udaipur. The theme of the World Tourism Day 2010 is “Bio-Diversity and Tourism”. Various programmes and competitions were held on this occasion. Many colleges participated in this event. These were

• IHMC, Udaipur,
• UCCMS BTM Dept., Udaipur,
• Pacific Institute of Hotel Management, Udaipur
• FCI, Udaipur.

Competitions held were:

• Painting
• Quiz
• Rangoli
• Extempore
• Presentation

The first competition was Painting which was held on the theme “Biodiversity”. Many beautiful and exotic paintings were made by the participants. Then a Quiz competition was organised, based on tourism. After the Quiz, Rangoli competition was held in which total of seven teams participated. And participants displayed their creativity in a very colourful and beautiful way. In the extempore competition only three teams participated. All the participants were allowed to speak on various topics that were given on the spot. After the extempore, the much waited dance competition took place. In which the theme was traditional. Participants came in colourful costumes and traditional Indian dresses which was a delight to see. They performed on traditional ‘Marwari’ songs. Then a presentation competition was held. Their topic was ‘Impact of Hosting International Events on Tourism’, in this presentation they mainly discussed about the Common Wealth Games 2010 to be held India and its impact on Indian Economy and Tourism. After all the competitions were complete, the chief guests started arriving at the event venue that is FMS, Udaipur. All the chief guests were then presented with momentos by the students. The chief guests were: Prof. Venugopalan, Dean PG, MLSU Prof. K. Saxena, Director, FMS, MLSU Ms. Sumita Saroj, Deputy Director, DOT Mr. Mukesh Tikku, Secretary, TAAU Mr. H.A. Subramanyam, GM, Shiv Niwas Palace Mr. M.R. Sehgal, Director, IHM Mrs. Sangeeta Sehgal, Principal, FCI Dr. Bhawani Singh, Principal PIHM Dr. Anil Kothari, Coordinator, FSM Dr. B.L. Verma, Coordinator, BTM Dr. Ashok Singh, Coordinator, MTM, MLSU After the mementos ceremony, some of the Chief guests were called to the dais to motivate the students with their encouraging and inspirational words. Then the Prize distribution ceremony took place where the winners were awarded with prizes and certificates.
