19 Indian Cities Among World's 20 Top Hottest Places
Rajasthan faces intense heat with temperatures 2-3°C above normal; IMD predicts further rise as Udaipur records 38.9°C; India dominates global hottest cities list
Udaipur, April 22, 2026 - Rajasthan is reeling under the impact of intense heat with most parts of the State currently recording maximum temperatures between 40°C to 42°C. This is 2 to 3 degrees above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jaipur. The weather is expected to remain dry for the next 4 to 5 days, and temperatures may rise further by 1 to 2 degrees.
Udaipur, over the last 24 hours, recorded maximum temperature at 38.9°C and minimum at 19.4°C.
In other parts of India, places in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, recorded maximum temperatures between 36°C to 40°C. Allahabad recorded the highest at 44.4°C.
The global weather agency AQI.in on Tuesday (April 21) released a list of the 20 hottest cities in the world in which 19 are from India. These cities are mostly from Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. Bhagalpur (Bihar), Talcher (Odisha) and Asansol (West Bengal) topped the list with temperatures around 44°C. The other city on the list is Lumbini (Nepal).
