30 people of Udaipur are stuck due to massive landslide and heavy downpour in Uttranchal that resulted in blocking of several roads and highways. Thousands of pilgrims of Chardham Yatra have been stuck in the dreadful weather.

30 people of Udaipur are stuck due to massive landslide and heavy downpour in Uttranchal that resulted in blocking of several roads and highways. Thousands of pilgrims of Chardham Yatra have been stuck in the dreadful weather.

According to official sources, 30 people of Udaipur are stuck between Gaurikund and Kedarnath since 16th June. Stranded people are staying in Joshi Math, 2 km far from Gaurikund.

Heavy rain, flood and landslides have resulted in blockage of several highways and have disrupted the Chardham Pilgrimage of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri.

According to B.R Bhati, Additional Deputy Megistrate, Udaipur, the state control room of Uttranchal is informed about the 30 pilgrims of Udaipur who are trapped at Gaurikund. The local authorities have started rescue operation and soon they (pilgrims) will be evacuated.

Shayamlal Gujjar and Kuldep Ranka, both officers at State Emergency Operation Unit are in constant touch with their counterparts in Uttranchal for the safe rescue of Rajasthan’s pilgrims.

Relatives of stranded pilgrims reportedly visited collectorate today and met the officials.

More than 200 people from Udaipur city and region are on the pilgrimage; however no official data has been released about the identity of pilgrims and about those who are trapped.
