Udaipur, September 2, 2025 - This year, Rajasthan is likely to receive above-normal rainfall even during the month of September, says the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its monthly forecast for September. A circulation system has formed over northwest and western Rajasthan. As a result, most parts of eastern Rajasthan are expected to witness moderate to heavy, and in some areas, very heavy rainfall over the next 5 to 6 days.

On Monday, September 1, heavy rains were reported in some parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Jodhpur divisions and the Shekhawati region. In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Jalore at 118 mm. Jaipur experienced intermittent rain throughout the day, receiving 43 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

According to Skymet, more rain is likely in northwest India with consistent easterly winds that will continue to feed moisture. The monsoon trough is near Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh with a western disturbance existing close to Pakistan and Punjab.

Delhi is likely to cross the 1,000 mm this month, according to weather experts. It has already seen an August that brought 72% excess monthly rainfall and September is expected to start on an equally wet note.
