Alert for Thunderstorm, Rain in 14 Districts
Udaipur witnesses a sharp rise in temperature as maximum touches 27.1°C and minimum crosses 10°C; Western Disturbance likely to bring cloud cover and rainfall across Rajasthan
Udaipur, Jan 23, 2026 – An active Western Disturbance is leading to weather fluctuations in the State, including Udaipur. While mornings are chilly and residents brace for a cold day. However, by afternoon, the day turns warm.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), both day and night temperatures have increased by nearly two degrees. For the second straight day on Thursday (January 22), the maximum temperature recorded an increase. Compared to 25°C, it rose by 2.1°C to reach 27.1°C. Similarly, a significant jump was also recorded in the minimum temperature, which increased by 1.7°C to 10.2°C. A day earlier on Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 25.0°C and minimum was 8.5°C.
When compared with other districts, Udaipur recorded one of the highest daytime temperatures after Barmer, Jalore and Pali.
Once the cloud cover clears, the chill is expected to intensify again. Meanwhile, there is a strong possibility of mavath (light winter rainfall) at several places across Rajasthan, including Udaipur. On January 23, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and cloud activity is likely in Bikaner, Shekhawati and the Jaipur, Ajmer and Bharatpur divisions.
The IMD has issued an alert for thunderstorms, rain and hailstorms in 14 districts, including Jaipur. The impact of the current weather system will weaken from January 24. However, after a strong Western Disturbance remains active, a new system is expected to become active again from January 27, bringing cloudy skies and chances of rainfall in several cities.
