On April 18 and 19, strong dust storms with wind speeds of up to 40 km/hour are expected in parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions
Udaipur, April 18, 2025 - The intense heatwave that has gripped the State over the past several days is expected to ease, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Owing to changes in the weather, slight relief is anticipated. On Thursday, April 17, light rainfall accompanied by thunder and sudden strong winds was reported in some areas of Kota, Ajmer and Jaipur divisions.
As a result, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry over the next 4 to 5 days starting Friday, April 18. IMD has forecast drop in temperatures across the State by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius from Friday. Relief from the heatwave is expected starting April 20.
In Udaipur, today's maximum temperature would hover at around 39°C, while minimum temperature is predicted to be around 27°C.
Additionally, on April 18 and 19, strong dust storms with wind speeds of up to 40 km/hour are expected in parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.
This anticipated relief will be short-lived because the IMD has warned that Rajasthan, along with Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, north Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, is expected to experience an increased number of intense heatwaves from April to June. These heatwaves are likely to last 10 to 20 days, compared to the usual 4 to 8 days during this period.
