Cold Wave and Dense Fog Alert in State

Minimum temperatures fall sharply. Sikar records 0.2°C, Mount Abu remains at freezing point for third consecutive day

Udaipur, Jan 5, 2026 – The city continued to shiver on Sunday (January 4) despite it being sunny in the day. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature recorded was 21.6°C and the minimum was 10.4°C. On Saturday, the maximum temperature was 20.9°C and the minimum 8.9°C. This shows a slight increase of 0.5 degrees in daytime temperature and 1.5 degrees in night temperature.

According to the IMD, night temperatures in eight cities fell below five degrees Celsius. The lowest night temperature in the State was recorded at 0.2°C in Palsana of Sikar. Jaipur recorded daytime temperature at 18°C, which is three degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 8.8°C.

Meanwhile, in Mount Abu, the temperature has remained at the freezing point for the third consecutive day. Moderate-to-dense fog was reported at several places in the State with cold wave effects in eastern Rajasthan.

IMD has issued an alert for cold wave and dense fog in the coming days. Extreme cold conditions have been forecast for the next three days in Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Khairthal-Tijara, Kotputli-Behror, Tonk and Churu. In the remaining parts of the State, the weather is likely to remain dry for the next week. Night temperatures across Rajasthan may drop by up to three degrees over the next week.
